As we reach out to artists along the way, we are just amazed at the outpouring of support that we receive. Who would have thought that Maria Brink of In This Moment was bullied when she was younger. Check out her message to both those that are bullied and those that bully others. Thank you Maria!
**Disclaimer First** - Before this was taped, Ronnie commented that he might not be the best person for this as he bullies his former band. Putting that aside, the fan base for Falling In Reverse falls within the age group that is very susceptible to bullying and therefore warrants a message from the band. Please no trolling here.
So we actually recorded with A Skylit Drive last summer on the Vans Warped tour but we used a script and we really wanted a personal heartfelt message from the band. It’s taken almost a year due to touring schedules but we were able to record with frontman Michael “Jag” Jagmin at a recent tour stop in Richmond. Thank you so much Jag for sharing with us!
Justin Furstenfeld, the frontman of Blue October sat down with us at Musicians Opposed to Bullying to talk about Bullying. Check out what he has to say!
A Rocket to the Moon is currently out on tour with All American Rejects so a perfect opportunity to get an anti bullying message recorded! Thank you so much to bassist Eric Halvorsen for sharing with us.
Check out this amazing song and video work by Megan Landry. She’s a 15-yr old Canadian singer/songwriter who wrote this song that deals with bullying based on her own personal experiences. Please share!!!
Did you guys know that there is a movie coming out the end of March about bullies? The movie Bully documents the epidemic of bullying in American schools. Unfortunately due to the language in this movie it is currently being given a “R” rating by the Motion Picture Association of America. This prevents the movie from being shown in the places where it would be most effective, the middle and high schools.
A Michigan high school student has started a petition to get this movie rated PG-13. Please help us in making this happen. Remember we CAN make a difference!
This message has even a more special meaning to us here at Musicians Opposed to Bullying. The site was begun due to the untimely death of Brandon Bitner; Emilie was one of his favorite artists. Thank you Emilie for sharing your story as well as letting people know it’s okay to be yourself and not conform to others.
